A gobble is about the sweetest sound
you hear while in the field. The tom uses this in the springtime to call in a hen for mating. You
want to shock off a bird to gobble for you so you can locate his position
& set up on him.
A purr is used when a bird is
content. As they walk along feeding, calm, relaxed & at ease
about their
surroundings. THE
RULER made this
purr.
A cluck is also used when a bird
feels content feeding, at ease & so on. Or it can mean the total
opposite where she is excited toward a gobble she is hearing, she'll
respond to the tom with
a series of clucks. When using this call make it a low pitch & flat
sound followed by a series of
yelps.
THE RULER made this cluck.
A yelp is used to locate each other,
to keep tabs on one another. A hen could very well use this call to entice a gobbler for mating.
Assembly yelp is a series of yelps of excitement used by hens to gather their
young.
THE RULER made this yelp.
An excited, hot bird uses a cut. You
can use a cut followed by a yelp to mean the same thing.
THE
RULER made this cut.
A scattered flock of jakes & jenneys will kee kee
& yelp to locate each other & their mother.
They will also use it while feeling content around their flock.
Greg Mullin made this keekee.
